Astrophysics

Astrophysics deals with the physics of the universe.  This is what I originally went to college to study.  It is an incredible branch of science that asks the really big questions … how did the universe begin?  how will it end?  what are black holes?  what are worm holes?  what is the shape of the universe?

General Astrophysics:

http://www.cfa.harvard.edu – The great center for Astrophysics in the U.S. (and maybe the world) is the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.  This link takes you to their website.  It is absolutely incredible.  Besides links to ongoing research, there are links to images, events making news and sky charts.  This is a site definitely worth visiting.

Astrophysics – Black Holes:

http://www.scienceface.org – My old college professor sent me these links on black holes.  The links are video interviews with some of the leading experts on black holes and Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.  The interviewer is a college music major who has no formal training in physics.  She asks great questions and gets responses that both physics and non-physics people can readily understand.

http://cosmology.berkeley.edu/Education/BHfaq.html – This is a great website containing frequently asked questions concerning black holes.  What I love about this site is that it is accessible to all levels … in other words, you don’t need a degree in physics to enjoy it!
